Bad-faith bargaining
The hospital has used bargaining tactics that delay a contract instead of moving toward one.
Henry Ford Genesys has not bargained fairly. Nurses and case managers are still on the line because the hospital has withheld information, made take-it-or-leave-it proposals, pulled proposals back, and tried to force terms instead of reaching a fair agreement.
Why the strike continues
The hospital has used bargaining tactics that delay a contract instead of moving toward one.
The union needs information to represent nurses during negotiations. Henry Ford Genesys has failed to provide it.
The hospital has put terms on the table as demands, not real negotiations.
The hospital has made proposals, pulled them back, and returned with language that hurts employees.
Henry Ford Genesys declared talks stalled and implemented terms while the union was still modifying proposals.
What nurses are protecting
Genesys nurses have faced patient assignments above what nurses consider safe, including double-digit loads on medical-surgical floors and 3-to-1 ratios in the intensive care unit. They are asking for staffing rules the hospital has to follow.
Striking nurses should return to the positions and shifts they held before the walkout, with seniority intact.
“Henry Ford Genesys Hospital is treating Teamsters nurses like they are disposable.”
